Ruckus Wireless Cements Position as Main Challenger to Cisco in SP Wi-Fi

RENO, NV, September 23, 2014

New Q2 data from Synergy Research Group shows that while Cisco maintains its lead in service provider Wi-Fi, Ruckus Wireless continues to narrow the gap. Since the start of 2013 Ruckus has been increasing its market share by almost one percentage per quarter and is now well established alongside Cisco as one of the two market leaders.MII Q214 The total market for enterprise and service provider WLAN infrastructure grew by 7% year on year to reach $1.1 billion in Q2. Cisco is the very clear leader with a market share of 52%, followed at a distance by Aruba, Ruckus and HP. SP Wi-Fi still accounts for only a small portion of that total market, but it is notable that service providers account for a much greater share of Ruckus product revenues than they do for its main competitors.

“Overall growth rates for SP Wi-Fi have tailed off a bit and not sustained the levels that some were expecting” said John Dinsdale, a Chief Analyst and Research Director at Synergy Research Group. “Nonetheless the market is still experiencing strong double-digit growth rates on a rolling annualized basis and I do expect to see future growth rates kick upwards again.”
