contact: Asia/Pacific Wireless LAN (WLAN) Sales Show Mixed Results in First Quarter 2005
Scottsdale,
Arizona – According to Synergy Research Group’s latest
report, Q1 2005 Wireless LANs (WLAN) APAC Market Shares, the Wireless
Local Area Network (WLAN) market in Asia/Pacific grew four percent sequentially
and was up nearly 20 percent year-over-year. “In Q1 2005 the Enterprise
WLAN market in Asia experienced a slight drop, which is seasonally typical
for the quarter. Furthermore, Enterprise sales were slowed, to a lesser
extent, by the market’s transition from distributed, overlay deployments,
toward more integrated and centralized architectures“, said Aaron
Vance, Senior Analyst with Synergy Research Group. “However, the
consumer WLAN market in the Asia/Pacific region continues to heat up,
driven primarily by continued sales of 802.11g products.”
Notable sequential market share gainers for the quarter included Aruba, Buffalo, D-Link, Extreme, NETGEAR, and ZyXEL. Important Note: Synergy’s coverage of the WLAN market now includes Enterprise Wireless Switches/Controllers and “Light” Access Points.
